Now on to the Interview!!!
1. Do you believe in ghosts?
Yes, I also believe in varying degrees and types of hauntings.

2. What are some of your favorite ghost stories?
It’s hard to name a popular one, there are so many, but for me I really love hearing other people tell their accounts. It’s fascinating to me to listen to someone’s experience and be able to see their emotions when they tell them.

3. Have you ever been to a haunted house?
Yes, I have. I have a friend I grew up with that lived in a house where I experienced things when I would sleep over. Sounds, seeing apparitions, windows closing on their own, and she even had her own claims of poltergeist type hauntings. Her mother always said the house was haunted by a little girl and one of our other friends believed that the little girl followed her home one night. There have been other places where I felt things but I think that most houses will take on the energy of the people who once lived there. I believe that our emotions and energies leave imprints.

4. What inspired this story?
I really just wanted to write a book that no one else had ever written, about something that I was familiar with. I thought it would be cool to take a hometown legend, in this case the legend of the Bragg Road Ghost Light, and make up my own explanation as to what the Light is. It was always just an interesting story to me and I was skeptical about it existing as more than just debunked headlights or swamp gas. Then it was about a year after I started writing the book, that I had my own experience with the Light, while on a drive down the road with my family. It was something I can’t explain and something I’ll never forget.

5. What are some of your favorite spooky books?
Well, while my book doesn’t have any vampires, I usually tend to lean toward books about or that include them and funny enough, they aren’t that scary. I love The Mortal Instruments, The Morganville Vampires, and The Vampire Academy series just to name a few. The scariest book I’ve ever read was Pet Sematary by Stephen King. That really creeped me out.

6. Did you do any research for this story?
Since my story is written about a real local ghost road legend, I did do research on the road and the theories. I then took a lot of those and molded them into my own story, weaving little threads of them throughout, but taking creative liberties with them as well. All of the legends and historical events spoken of are real, but not all took place directly where I wrote them to. When world building I had to simplify things a bit. There are little nods to my hometown throughout, such as places that inspired me, but only someone from my hometown would probably understand them. That was fun to do.

7. What are some of your favorite paranormal films/tv shows?
I love paranormal TV. I love anything that tells me about history and legends and I also love TV series like The Originals, Vampire Diaries, and Bates Motel. As far as movies, I love all kinds but I have a deep love for classics and old Hitchcock and horror films. Arsenic and Old Lace is one of my favorites because it deals with the macabre serial killing aunts, but does so with humor and I love Cary Grant. I also love psychological thrillers.

8. Will this be a series? If so how many parts?
Yes, this will be a series of five books. I’m very excited about it!

9. How do you feel about love triangles?
I love them! I love seeing one done in a fresh way with fresh dynamics. There is a rather strange one in mine and there will be more of that in the books to come.

10. Tell me a little about your book, something that is NOT in the general synopsis?
Lily’s new friends Owen and Hunter are brothers. They live with their Granny and are the only other people living out on the road with Lily and Talon and their parents. Owen has feelings for Lily that no one can understand. They learn something really interesting about each other and it makes things much more confusing for poor Owen.

11. If you could describe The Legend of the Light Keeper in 3 sentences what would they be?
Lily is a not-so-normal girl seeking normalcy who learns that her new home holds deep secrets of her powers and lineage. She’s thrust into a new living arrangement and quickly falls for her soon-to-be step-brother. Strange things start to happen and all comes together when she’s given an old diary for her birthday that leads her to her purpose and her new power.

12. What do you want the reader to take away from this story?
This story is an introduction to my series. I really want the reader to get a good feel for the characters, understand their situations, and relate to them. This is a series about learning to embrace your inner gifts. Like Lily, we all have some special gift inside of us whether it’s that one is really good at a hobby, loves to read, or is empathetic to others. I want my readers to realize that it is okay to be themselves and let their inner gifts shine. Once we learn to embrace our talents and gifts and what makes us unique, that is when we really begin to shine and that’s when great things happen.  The Light exists and it’s in us all.

Of Shadow and Stone by Michelle Muto (Review)

This book starts with some pretty dark undertones right from the get-go, Of Shadow and Stone is a very interesting novel with a magical other world of sorts containing were-wolves, vampires, magicians and living gargoyles. In the story, the two main characters Kate and Ian are both famous people who are sucked into this dangerous world with the responsibility to stop the gargoyles from killing humans for small crimes like identity theft and purse snatching, all the while as there attraction for each other grows.
I very much enjoyed the storytelling after the first little bit in the beginning that felt almost unnecessary to the plot. I loved the chemistry between the two romantic leads, they were very well paired. There was definitely room for improvement when it came to character development because there was many questions left unanswered about most to all of the characters in the story. I give Of Shadow and Stone by Michelle Muto THREE OF FIVE STARS!

Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles #3.5) by Marissa Meyer (Review)

Masterfully written, Marissa Meyer tells the tale of how Levana became the villain she is in the previous lunar chronicles books. It is a heart wrenching of how a disfigured and emotionally abused young girl turns into a monster queen. The character was based on the wicked queen from Snow White, and masterfully incorporated into the futuristic and alien universe.  I loved the detailing that was done in the plot of the entire Lunar series and it held it own really well, but Fairest just extenuated it even more, giving the readers an even deeper understanding of the characters and their motivation. I'll be honest, I cried a fair amount while reading this novel.  Ultimately I loved Fairest and recommend the entire Lunar series. I give Fairest the rating of FOUR AND A HALF OUT OF FIVE STARS!!

They All Fall Down by Roxanne St. Claire (Review)

Fans of Pretty Little Liars will love this book!
To many girl, being on the Hottie list at school would be a dream come true, but this year something is different. Something sinister. As the the girls on the list start mysteriously dying off in order, the main protagonist fights to find out why before her number is up.
I love suspense and mystery, which They All Fall Down does perfectly. I was on edge from beginning to the end, trying to guess who the killer was; meaning that the plot and story telling was masterfully done. I felt connected in one way or another to every character in this novel, which is truly a rarity. I loved the complexity in the relationships in They All Fall Down as they deepened the story and invest the readers in the outcome. An outcome which was satisfying as a conclusion. This book sucks in its readers, especially towards the end of the novel. This was one of those novels I could just not put down. I definitely recommend it to you guys and give They All Fall Down the rating of FOUR OUT OF FIVE STARS!!!!

Skin Deep by TG Ayer (Review)

In a world of shapeshifters and other mystical creatures, an alpha puma shifter is sucked into a mystery of the murders of shifters in her city, with the aid of a local cop she raises to find the killer before it's too late. The story starts right off the bat with a pretty disturbing set of scenes that set a dark tone to the entire novel. Warning: There are graphic torture scenes in this novel, not for the feint of heart.
I have a few problems with this novel. Lets start with the plot and the storytelling. They were just too crammed and out of order. There seemed to be two different plots that did not coincide very well. The story would jump from one plot to another, and not in a fluid fashion. Next to that, I had a huge problem with the weak romance. Throughout the story only a minimal of romantic sparks were set off. It was a major disappointment.
Switching to looking at the positives, I appreciated the strong female protagonist. She took care of herself and kicked butt. I liked the action sequences in the very end as well. I give Skin Deep TWO STARS OUT OF FIVE!

Shadow Study (Soulfinders #1) by Maria V. Snyder (Review)

Book one of a new series, I recommend that you read the Study series beforehand because there is a lot of reference back to it in Shadow Study, and the story is a continuation of the lives of the characters from the Study series. Well, if I'm honest Shadow study was not bad, but it was not good either. Ultimately, I found shadow Study very boring. I mean VERY boring. I felt it was a task to read from the beginning to the end. I'm not saying that Shadow Study was a bad book, but I could not seem to get into the story no matter how hard I've tried. My feelings on the story are so mixed up that I have fallen into a grey zone. I do and don't like it. The characters were developed in previous novels, but it feels as if in Shadow Study was without any real character growth. I give Shadow Study TWO AND A HALF OUT OF FIVE STARS!

You Are Mine (Mine #1) by Janeal Falor (Review)

Right off the bat the beauty of the cover caught my eye, but it was the synopsis that truly caught my attention. Reading the novel, I found a very disturbed society where women are objects and the amount of magic in your blood dictates your value in society. In this novel, one young girl goes on a slightly romantic adventure as she starts rebelling from her societies "norm" by becoming more and more independent with the aid of her "barbaric" fiance/owner. I found that there were some truly heart wrenching moments in this novel that made me cry a bit, and some truly boring lulls that were in the story as well. All in all, You are Mine was not bad. It was not the novel of the year, but it is definitely a unique story with a complex plot. It was an interesting read with some externally deep moments. I give You Are Mine THREE AND A HALF OUT OF FIVE STARS!

Realm of the Goddess by Sabina Khan (Review)

Starting right off the bat with fluid writing and a strong character voice, Realm of the Goddess is a very unique book with action, adventure and romance. Callie is the vessel of the Hindu goddess of many arms, Kali. Destined to save the world from evil, and in the process save her family and best friend.
A unique concept for a young adult novel. This is the first Hindu mythology YA novel I have encountered up to date so it was truly unique. It was very interesting and smooth read. The character development was pretty solid for the majority of the characters, minus one or two lesser characters that were neglected. Beyond that, the story seemed to flow like water, which is a beautiful thing in a novel. I really do recommend this novel, especially to those who enjoy mythology and stories based around it. I give Realm of the Goddess FOUR OUT OF FIVE STARS!

Scion Excerpt!

Scion Excerpt:
"As we took the elevator up to the fifty-sixth floor my nerves reached an all-time high because of what I knew would be waiting for me when I reached the top. Or rather, who would be waiting. I glance at Duncan, trying not to let my panic show. “Are you taking us directly to the council?”
“Yes.” Duncan eyed me suspiciously. “Is that a problem? It sounded like you guys wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible.”
“We do,” Ethan assured him.
I did, but that didn’t mean I was looking forward to it. I swallowed back the chunks that were starting to rise in my stomach and asked something I had to know. “Will she be there?”
I avoided Ethan’s gaze and held my breath as I waited for Duncan’s answer.
“She’s a member of the council now Russ, as is the Seer. They will both be there.”
Of course they’d both be there. Because the universe hates me. “Does she know I’m here?”
Duncan took a minute to answer me. “I thought it best not to warn her. She would have just agonized over it unnecessarily.”
“Agonize over it?” That pissed me off. “She has no right to—”
“You don’t understand. She’s been a wreck, Russ. I never even told her I saw you.”
“She’s had no idea where I was this whole time?” For a second I felt bad. But then I remembered the way she clung to him when she said goodbye to me and I got angry again.
Duncan sighed. “You asked me to keep her out of your life. If she knew where you were, she would have come looking for you. This is going to be very difficult for her. More so than for you I think. You seem to have moved on better than she has.”
“I’ve moved on better?” I couldn’t listen to any more, and since I couldn’t really punch anything I kicked the side of the elevator. “She moved on before I left.”
“Would you like to see her before you’re brought in front of the whole council? I can take you to a holding cell and tell her you’re here. The council would understand the delay.”
“No.” That sounded like hell on Earth. “I don’t want to talk to her. I was sort of banking on never seeing her again. Lets just get it over with.”
“It might make things go a little smoother if you got it out of the way before you’re questioned.”
I laughed hard. “You think the council cares about questioning us? They’re going to do whatever they want no matter what Ethan and I say. To tell you the truth, Duncan, I don’t really believe they’re going to let us go. That’s why I came. If they’re going to try to kill Ethan, then they’re going to have get through us both.”
Duncan laughed as the elevator doors chimed open. “Nobody is going to kill anybody. You’re always so dramatic, Russ.”
As Duncan ushered us down the hall, I stopped hearing what he was saying. The consulate was fairly busy. There were people everywhere, but it wasn’t their stares that made my heart pound as I looked at them. I kept waiting for one of them to be a familiar face.
Duncan gave me a sympathetic smile and shook his head. “The council isn’t what you think. They aren’t cruel monsters. Dani was an unfortunate case, so your perception of them is skewed. I promise you they can be reasonable, caring people. They want order and justice, and they will be fair. They’ll listen to your story. I honestly don’t think you’re in any danger.”
“We’ll see,” I grumbled.
I stumbled to as stop as we came to a set of large double doors. “Where’s Grace when you need her?” I gasped. Ethan glanced at me and I nodded at the doors. “Dani’s in there. I can already feel her energy.”
“You want to hold my hand?” Ethan asked, holding out his cuffed wrists to me and batting his eyelashes. “I may not dissolve bonds, but I’m every bit as pretty as Grace.”
I appreciated his attempt to give me crap. I needed the distraction. I was supremely messed up right now and he knew it. Joking might be the only way to get me through this. “Bite me.”
We laughed, but the smiles left our faces the second the doors opened. Game time."

Nobody's Goddess (The Never Veil #1) by Amy McNulty (Review)

In this new and awesome story of love, magic and fate; a girl named Noll is forced into an insane adventure with time travel and forces beyond understanding.  Amy's writing is fluid and soothing to the reader. The story flows like water and it does not get boring for a moment. In this exciting romance the readers are always guessing, but never frustrated with lack of knowledge.
I can't get into much detail as to not spoil anything, but I will tell you this; the riveting characters in this epic semi-romance are incredible with their intricacies. The plot and connections between the characters is well thought out and entertaining. My only complaint is the ending, (which I will not spoil) I feel like it was too abrupt and was not as elaborated on as it should have been. Ultimately I very much enjoyed Nobody's Goddess and give it the rating of FOUR OUT OF FIVE STARS!
