The New Wild by Holly Brasher (Review)

New, creative and intense, The New Wild is a riveting story of Mother Nature taking revenge. After all the crap humans have done to the earth, nature fights back. In an apocalyptic world two teens Jackie and Xander, have to face a world where nature has overgrown and fires have wiped out most thing made by humans, and the humans themselves. The story is high stakes and high emotion as the two band together to find their loved ones... if they survived.
The New Wild surprised me with how good it truly was. A highlight of the novel was definitely the development of the characters Jackie and Xander, more specifically, Xander. Xander is a very rounded character in the way he changes so much throughout the novel. He, along with Jackie, are masterfully developed and truly make this book as good as it is. The plot was not very deep, there was no giant mystery to solve or villain to vanquish, but non the less I found it engaging and magical to read. I found myself shocked, scared and crying with the characters, which is a huge sign that even without a massive convoluted plot, the story was still very good.
I do recommend The New Wild, especially for those looking for something new in the YA genre, and give it the rating of FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!!!
