Seas (Wendy Darling #2) by Colleen Oakes (Review)

    Addicting and epic, Wendy Darling: Seas picks up where the first novel left off. Rescued by Captain Hook and his hoard of evil pirates... or is it captured by them; Wendy is thrown into a new highly dangerous situation in which she will do anything to protect her little baby brother, Michael. While facing off pirates, mermaids and constant danger; the threat of Peter Pan still looms as his dark obsession with her grows by the day. Time is running out and if Wendy does not find a way to stop Peter, she knows he will capture her all over again and she will never get back to London with her brothers.
    I really enjoyed this novel. The dark intensity from the first novel transferred well into Wendy Darling: Stars. Wendy was still a very well developed character with a deep capacity to love. Her independent yet polite personality made her interactions with other characters entertaining and unique. On top of all that, there are more really well designed characters in this series. Micheal is a good example of this, his cute adorable childish ways lighten up the story just enough for the readers to keep on reading, and his innocence riles up the protective instinct in almost and reader. Besides the Darlings, the novel is made great by the villain, Peter Pan. Peter both horrifies and rivets the readers into being unable to put the book down. My only real complaint about this book is that there did not seem to be enough Peter Pan in it, but I have a feeling we will be getting plenty more of Peter in the next instalment. I cannot wait until the next novel, and definitely recommend the series. I give Wendy Darling: Stars the rating of FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!!!

Summer Shadows (Benedicts #6) by Joss Stirling (Review)

     Once again, Joss Stirling has written a beautiful addition to the Benedicts series. Taking place in the world of savants (special group of people with almost magical special abilities), Summer Shadows takes the readers on a thrilling ride alongside Summer, a young girls with the ability to shadow minds by tracking them and reading their thoughts and feelings. On a mission to save a friend, she runs into Hal Robinson, a trained non-savant solder who mixes things up. Together they work to accomplish their goal as tension rises between them.
      I loved this novel. I was addicted from the beginning to the end. Summer is an interesting character who is very well developed and rounded. Her abilities are really interesting and the entire world of the savants is riveting. In a world of infinite types of powers, the possibilities are simply endless. The romance in this story was good and had a lot of tension that held the readers attention throughout the entire novel. In the series, it is not the best romance yet, but its still really well done. Plot wise, Summer Shadows was packed with action and mystery, keeping the readers on the edge of their seats as they read. I recommend not only Summer Shadows, but entire Benedicts series. I give Summer Shadows the rating of FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!!!

Heartless by Marissa Meyer (Review)

    Wonderfully written and emotionally engaging, Heartless is a telling of how the feared Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland came to be. Before she was a feared and powerful queen, Catherine was a simple girl whose dream was to open a bakery and fall in love. Catherine's life is turned upside down when the King of Hearts decided to pursue her hand in marriage, and her dreams become harder to achieve. Heart wrenching and elegantly written, Heartless brings back a whole slew of classic characters that readers would recognize (ex: Cheshire Cat and The Mad Hatter) along with new ones never before seen in the wonderland universe.
    There is a lot of foreshadowing in this novel, along with deep imagery that made for a deep read. I very much loved this book, even if it hurt to read at some moments. Classic to Marissa Meyer's usually writings, Marissa took a well known classic tale and somehow made it completely her own with a twist. The voice of the narration was clear and unique enough to keep the readers fully engaged in what they are reading. I loved Catherine as a character. Her flawed personality rounded her out as a character and made her seem that much more human. Along side Catherine was a whole cast of characters that seemed very wonderlandish while at the same time stayed human enough to be easily connected to by the readers. Although it is not a happy tale, I still recommend Heartless and give it the rating of FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!!!

     A riveting story with action, love and vengeance, Cursed was a fantastic read. In a world of magic and necromancers, Elea is a young but powerful necromancer that is cursed by the evil necromancer Tsar. Given only five years to kill the Tsar to save herself and her best friend from death and eternal torture, she quickly becomes a powerful necromancer hell bent on murder.
     I loved it. Just like every other novel by Christina Bauer and Inkmonster, Cursed was incredibly well written. Cursed has a very good plot and each character was rounded and unique. Elea was strong, intelligent and honorable, which was great to read about. The plot unrolled at a good pace, making the storytelling smooth and entertaining. There was plenty of mystery and action to keep interest, while not overdoing it. An Unattractive Vampire by Jim McDoniel (Review)

    Hilarious and witty, An Unattractive Vampire makes a joke of the sexy, glittery and oiled up vampires we have in our media today. Yulric Bile, a thousand-year-old evil vampire with such lovely nicknames as the Cursed One, the Devil s Apprentice, and He Who Worships the Slumbering Horrors is thrown into our modern day and is appalled by how vampires are. In his quest for revenge and to set things right, he teams up with the young reincarnation of his arch enemy and his older sister to take on the pretty undead.
    This book had me in stitches. It's dark and sarcastic humor had me constantly laughing. I found each character enriched the story and were comical on their own merit. I was impressed how something as dark as an evil, ancient, and murderous vampire could be made to be so hilarious. His grumpy and unimpressed manner was great and made for great jokes. I especially loved the little extras found at the bottom of the page to be very funny. Their little blurbs of sarcastic humor or witty narrative/commentary just enriched the book. I recommend An Unattractive Vampire if you are looking for a good laugh and I give it the rating of FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!

Almost Midnight (Shadow Falls: After Dark #3.5) by C.C. Hunter (Review)

  A series of novellas in the Shadow Falls universe, Almost Midnight takes the characters you already love to a deeper level by filling in the gaps in their stories. You get to read about the origins of Della and Chase the vampires, the trials of Miranda the dyslexic witch and a story on what happens to a certain were-wolf after she played her role as Kyle's enemy.
   I really enjoyed reading this and getting reacquainted with old favorite characters, and falling in love with characters I'd never thought I would like. Each story, although short, was satisfying and added new layers to the already really good series of Shadow Falls and Shadow Falls: After Dark. Of all the novellas, my favorite was by far the final one Fierce. It stood out on it's own as an awesome story and romance and sucked me in. I fell in love with the new characters introduced through the novella and found the romance in the story to be extremely adorable. All in all, Almost Midnight was a good series of short stories that just add to the story already told. If you enjoyed the other books in the series, I recommend this one as well. I give almost midnight FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!!!

The Awakened (The Awakened Duology #1) by Sara Elizabeth Santana (Review)

    It's the end of the world, and Zoey Valentine is on the run with her father and the annoying boy next door Ash Matthews. After an illness takes down a lot of the population, only to have them crop up again as zombie like creatures named the Awakened. On the run for their lives, Zoey will be faced with many dangers and mysteries while she tries to survive and keep those around her alive. 

    I enjoyed The Awakened. It was chock full of danger and suspense. I found Ash and Zoey were interesting characters. I both loved them and hated them. Ash is sweet but cocky, and Zoey is capable but selfish and prone to childish tantrums. Although these traits agitated me, they also made the characters more human, and therefore more connectable as characters in the long haul. There was moments in this novel that had me crying, and others that had me on the edge of my seat, but I wouldn't say that this is necessarily a happy story, so I don't recommend it as a feel good read.  Plot development wise, the novel was very well written. I specifically enjoyed the mystery that spawned at the end of the novel. I am eager to find out what happens in the next installment. I give The Awakened FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!!!

Ash (Hive Trilogy #1) by Jaymin Eve and Leia Stone (Review)

   In a world of vampires and humans, the Ash arrive. The Ash are a vampire and human hybrid children, and they are always all male. Well, at least until Charlie Bennet comes around. She is the first female Ash ever, but that does not make her life any easier. The Ash are culled and have to fight to the death, and now Charlie is in the culling. In a world full of action, romance, danger and adventure Charlie fights for her life while uncovering the mystery of her existence.

    I very much enjoyed Ash. Charlie is a cool witty character that was very interesting and fun to read about. I was worried about the story because vampires felt a little overdone, but I was pleasantly surprised by how different from the usual vampire stories Ash felt. Romance wise, Ash was pretty good. I really enjoyed the tension between the romantic lead and Charlie. The character developement in this story was also very well done, which did not surprise me because I have read Jaymin Eve's works in the past and each are chock full of unique and awesome characters. I totally recommend Ash and give it the rating of FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!!!

Angel Eclipsed (Louisiangel, #2) by C.L. Coffey (Review)

    The second installment of Louisiangel series, Angel Eclipsed continues the intense and dramatic story of Angel in Training. After the events during the hurricane, Angel strongly believes that Lucifer has been raised, but her boss, archangel Micheal, is in serious denial. Fighting the forces of evil and her attraction to her charge, Angel has a lot on her plate.
     I loved this novel. It was riveting, engaging and addicting. The world that is created in this fiction universe is charming and fun to read. I love the characters of Angel and Joshua. Their quirks hit me right in gut. They are riveting characters that made the story more dynamic. Their romance is tense and very well done. I fell in love with both of them as the story progressed. They were both, along with a whole slew of other characters, were well rounded. Plot wise, Angel Eclipsed was very well done. I had a great time reading it. It's action packed with danger around every corner. The world is jam packed with angels, demons and the creatures in between. I recommend Angel Eclipsed and the rest of the Louisiangel series. I give Angel Eclipsed FOUR AND A HALF OUT OF FIVE STARS!!!

Nexis (Tricksters #1) by A.L. Davroe (Review)

    Wonderful, interesting and deep; Nexis brings the reader into a world of fake perfection and virtual reality. This world is riddled with danger, mystery and back-stabbing elites. In the domed world of Evanescence, appearance is everything and the rich do anything they can to achieve it. A Natural Born amongst genetically-altered Aristocrats, Ella is an outcast. Faced with many challenges, Elle's life is turned upside down as her world is ripped apart.
    I loved this novel. It was a strong commentary of the rich, our obsession with beauty and our dangerous reliance on technology. Each moment had me thinking deeply and wondering about what was occurring in the novel. The story was fast passed and was very well written. The characters were enchanting and unique. Elle, the main character, was diverse, driven and strong. I liked her as a character immensely. Romance wise, the novel was stellar. As the story developed the romance just got better and better. I simply loved it. The story was filled with plot twists and interesting moments. I am very excited for the next novel in the series. I very much recommend this book and give Nexis the rating of FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!!!

Earth: The Final Battle (Walker Saga #7) by Jaymin Eve (Review)

   Captivating and satisfying, Earth: The Final Battle concludes the much loved Walker Saga. Finding the final half walker girl and wrapping up the epic battle to save the worlds, Earth takes the reader on an intense and riveting adventure filled with mystery, danger and kick butt comedy. A great installment to the series, Earth adds new elements to the Walker universe and deepens the story even more.
   I found in this novel, every second was riveting and captivating. The characters, new and old to the story, all were well developed and rounded throughout the novel. I am still very much in love the narrative voice Jaymin presents in her story telling. She has a perfect balance of intrigue, romance and humor throughout her books. I only have one complaint about earth and it is a small one. I felt the final battle was just a wee bit anti-climactic, but I'm not really sure that could be avoided since it has six books building up to one battle. I loved the resolution of this novel. I felt it properly wrapped up the amazing saga. It was heart wrenching, but gave the readers the closure they needed to finish the novel properly.
     Ultimately, I loved Earth: The Final Battle, and the whole Walker Saga. I definitely recommend you take the time to read it. It just might become your new all time favorite series! I give Earth: The Final Battle FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!!!

Black Widow: Forever Red by Margaret Stohl (Review)

   In the popular and riveting Marvel universe, Black Widow: Forever Red takes the readers on an action packed and intense ride along side one of the beloved Avengers; Black Widow. Black Widows past is convoluted and dark... and it's not finished with her yet. Introducing a riveting set of diverse and kick-butt characters, and bringing back some classics Black Widow: Forever Red adds more story and complexity to the Marvel universe.
    I very much enjoyed this book. I felt like it was a great introduction and back story novel to the character of Ava. Throughout the novel we get to know her and Black Widow on a new and more intimate level. It definitely changes how you look at the tough super spy when you can hear her internal dialogue. I found the plot of this novel to be gut wrenching and well done. I was fully invested very quickly into the novel. Being a lover of the Marvel movies ans universe in general, I found this novel to be just this much more epic. I loved this novel and I most definitely recommend it. I give Black Widow: Forever Red FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!!!
