This Heart of Mine by C.C. Hunter (Review)

     Leah is a dying girl. Her heart is dead and she is running on borrowed time. One day she is blessed by the gift of a heart transplant that gives her something she has not had for a long time, hope for a future. The only struggle is that for her to have life, somebody else had to lose theirs. When the history of her gifted heart comes into light, she must face its past, her past and her future to truly move on to live into the future. All the while a romance between her and Matt, a boy whose life is intrinsically entertained with her's, begins to grow and flourish. 

      I really found this story touching. This Heart of Mine is different from CC's usual work, but it did have a similar theme of confronting death and avenging injustices on the dead that can be found in all of her other works. Leah is a sweet girl. She is a sweet girl in an incredibly terribly hard situation that people actually have to deal with all throughout the world. It really put some of their fears, struggles and experiences into focus and gives the reader a new outlook on life. This serious tone is also mixed in with a sweet and adorable romance that entertains the reader, leaving me recommending the novel. I give This Heart of Mine FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!!!

Midnight Hour (Shadow Falls: After Dark #4) by C.C. Hunter (Review)

     Returning to the world of Shadow falls, Midnight Hour gives us the much desired adventure starting the beloved friend and witch, Miranda. While going to see a love witch with her sister, things go very awry and once again and Miranda is thrown into another action packed magical adventure. Along the way she encounters, ghosts, explosions, gangs and armadillos, oh my! Through it all, she has to sort out her love life and protect those she loves. If you liked the either of the Shadow Falls series, you will enjoy this one too.
     I truly enjoyed Midnight Hour. Like every other instalment in the series, C. C. Hunter has successfully written an awesome story of love and adventure in the perspective of a magically talented teenager. I was impressed with how the  story was able to maintain the quirky cuteness that is Miranda throughout the novel, that we had encountered in other novels. I've noticed in others series that sometimes in the process of transferring into another characters perspective, parts of that characters personalty just disappeared; but that does not seem to be the case here. I enjoyed the way Miranda developed throughout the novel and ended up being her own hero. It was endearing to read. Just like the person herself, Miranda's story was quirky and featured some oddities like an armadillo. Yup, and armadillo. Anyway, I enjoyed Midnight Hour and give it the rating of FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!

Almost Midnight (Shadow Falls: After Dark #3.5) by C.C. Hunter (Review)

  A series of novellas in the Shadow Falls universe, Almost Midnight takes the characters you already love to a deeper level by filling in the gaps in their stories. You get to read about the origins of Della and Chase the vampires, the trials of Miranda the dyslexic witch and a story on what happens to a certain were-wolf after she played her role as Kyle's enemy.
   I really enjoyed reading this and getting reacquainted with old favorite characters, and falling in love with characters I'd never thought I would like. Each story, although short, was satisfying and added new layers to the already really good series of Shadow Falls and Shadow Falls: After Dark. Of all the novellas, my favorite was by far the final one Fierce. It stood out on it's own as an awesome story and romance and sucked me in. I fell in love with the new characters introduced through the novella and found the romance in the story to be extremely adorable. All in all, Almost Midnight was a good series of short stories that just add to the story already told. If you enjoyed the other books in the series, I recommend this one as well. I give almost midnight FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!!!

Unspoken (Shadow Falls: After Dark #3) by C.C. Hunter (Review)

  The third and final installment of the Shadow Falls: After Dark, Unspoken wraps up the tense drama filled story of Della the vampire and her friends at Shadow Falls Camp. Confronted with her aunts murder, her fathers hatred, her uncles disappearance and the lies of her love interest, Chase, Della struggles to do the right thing and get proper justice. Her choices are hard and dangerous, but she will not be stopped.

   I love C.C. Hunters novels, and Unspoken doesn't seem to be much of an exception. It's plot and character development held my interest and kept me a happy reader. Della is strong, independent and vulnerable all at the same time. She is a diverse and rounded character that grows and learns as the story progresses, and I very much loved reader about her. Unspoken was riddled with action, mystery and romance. It's a count down to save Della's father and get the guilty murder in jail where he belongs. 

     The romances in the Shadow Falls: After Dark are intense and interesting, but luckily are not the complete focus of the book. Chase, the romantic male lead, is handsome, smart, witty, and loyal. I loved reading all about him and found myself cheering him on continuously throughout the story. He added a vital dynamic to the story that tipped the scales from it being a good book, to a great book. I loved the Shadow Falls: After Dark series, along with Unspoken, and definitely recommend both them. I give Unspoken the rating of FOUR AND A HALF STARS OUT OF FIVE!

Eternal (Shadow Falls: After Dark #2) by C.C. Hunter (Review)

     Badabababaaa I'm lovin' it! (*Gasp* She just made a McDonalds reference!) I know, I know. But it just seemed very accurate description for Eternal. It's addicting as McDonalds food minus the health risks. In this continuation of the Shadow Falls: After Dark series, Della's career in FRU and relationships with Steve and Chase takes on whole new lights. With a new ghost demanding she and Chase work together to save two young vampires. Eternal's addicting and interesting dialogue had me chuckling and on the edge of my seat from page one to the very end. Once again C.C. Hunter very pulled off a great paranormal young-adult novel. I could not put it down for a second. Eternal had me crying and giggling, wrapping me around C.C. Hunter's thumb. I believe she is a natural born story teller, and can't wait for the next installment of this series. I happily give Eternal four and a half out of five stars!

Reborn (Shadow Falls: After Dark #1) by C.C. Hunter (Review)

   I am a large fan of C.C. Hunters previous Shadow Falls series, so I had a large amount of excitement to read the beginning of the follow up series staring Della, a vampire attending Shadow Falls camp. This story starts after the finish of the original Shadow Falls series, and fluidly transitions into the views and life of Della. I simply LOVED Reborn! Its constant twists and turns, and romantic moments twisted up my emotions, and I could simply not put the book down. I believe that C.C. Hunter has developed the perfect formula for creating a great paranormal young-adult novel. I simply adore the character development and the imagery. I could see the story reeling before my eyes and casting me into the universe of vampires, were-wolves, witches, ghosts, fairies, and protectors. I without a doubt recommend this heart stopping suspenseful novel. I happily give Reborn the esteemed and much earned rating of four and a half stars out of five!
