Rating System

So, for each rating I have a specific sentiment I want to articulate. So, for those who can't read my mind, I will give you the sentiments in words.
This is one of the best books ever, I LOVE it!
I LOVE it! But it has a slight flaw.
Its very good but there is some room for improvement.
It was good.
It was okay.
I didn't like it, but I give it some credit.
It was bad, but it had fine grammar.
Mercy only goes so far
This is the worst thing I have EVER read, I can't even be merciful.

Exquisite Captive (Dark Caravan Cycle #1) by Heather Demetrios (review)

This book takes off running from the beginning, introducing a back-story of war and tragedy, an internally powerful heroine, and a creative universe with jinni (wish granting Arabian mythological creatures.). What is the conflict? Nalia the last of her kind, the royalty of Arjinna, is enslaved in the slave trade of sorts in the human world. What does she want? Freedom. How is she going to get it? Steeling the bottle and working with one of her worst enemies.

Nalia is such a lovable and three dimensional heroine. This book also consists of totally terrifying despicable villains like the monster Ramon, conflicting love interests, and magic. Heads up, there is a slight cliff hanger ending to induce the need to read the next book in the series. I give it four stars!

Beautiful Oblivion by Jamie McGuire (Review)

I was so excited about this book, being a huge fan of Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire... but after reading it I was really confused. This. This book gives me so many mixed emotions. I believe as a stand-alone book it could be a very good book, but in the shadow of beautiful disaster, it falls short. So reading it, I was expecting plot twists left and right, what I got was maybe one plot twist in all. And again, unlike Beautiful Disaster, there was little to none action in the story. In addition, the main conflict is not very well defined or presented. Needless to say I was more than a little disappointed. On the flipside, the book hade very lovable and three dimensional characters like Camille and Trenton (the main romantic characters). I also enjoy the interesting backdrop with the romance of Travis and Abby from Beautiful Disaster. Very well tied in if I do say so myself. So all in all, I give this book three stars.

The Dollhouse Asylum by Mary Gray (review)

The beginning is totally crap, it’s a miracle I continued reading past it. I personally hated how unrealistic the main character, Cheyenne, is. She is all about boys, and is horrifically gullible. She is so unobservant and submissive it physically hurts to read. If there was a meaning or a moral to this story, I didn’t catch it. This novel consists of a monstrous psychopath for a villain, a weak willed “heroin”, twisted slight romance with the psychopath and Cheyenne, people renamed after romantic tragedies by the psychopath, the potential zombie apocalypse, horrifying tragedy, horror and suspenseful, and the tragic death of loved characters all though the story. This book is definitely not for the feign of heart. On the flip side, this story is captivating. I could not put it down. It was like watching a car wreck. Traumatizing, but you cannot look away. Depending on the person this book readers reaction can range from, “THAT WAS TERIBLE!!” to “I kinda liked it”. So personally, giving slack because I was pulled into the book. I give it two and a half stars.
